Semi Finals Sat. Oct. 5 & Finals Sun. Oct. 6 will be held on the upper courts

Patron and Sponsor seating will be on the Patio for the Finals

We hope you will come out during the day, have lunch and watch some great Division I College tennis during the week.  Matches start 10:00 and finish approx 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.

Non members and guests are welcome and invited to come watch also. 

Come root for your Alma Mater or just the good tennis.

Great for kids to see such high level tennis up close! 

 

Riviera Junior member Micheline Aubuchon is spending a month down under honing her competitive tennis with Riviera’s own pro Darren Beckman’s brother Phil Beckman and some top collegiate players. Aside from intensive workouts, she will be playing a number of tournaments . Michie was even written up in the local paper (photo from article below) ! Sounds like a great summer for any tennis lover- good luck Michie!

What is it?  It is a USTA tournament format.  Riviera junior players will experience playing a regular draw and back draw (consolation).  2 matches are guaranteed.  USTA rules of play and sportsmanship will be used.   Trophies will be awarded for Winners & Finalists.

  • Matches will be played between 1:30 – 430 p.m.
  • Scoring and format for the Red Ball event may be modified depending on the size of the draw.
  • We MAY have a doubles event for players that have lost, TBD
  • Players will be grouped according to age and ability.

Players are responsible to call the Tennis Desk, 310 454-6162, for your match time if you have not received it by Thurs. August 15

 

How to Enter?

Fill out an Entry and drop off at the Tennis Desk, or Email Pam Austin with the information at paustin@rccla.com.  Check with Coach Jean Dillingham (818) 635-1827  if you have questions about your level or ability to participate.

  • Players are responsible to check in at the Lower Courts 10 minutes before your match time, ready to play.
  • If you are not able to play after you have signed up, you are responsible for calling and notifying Pam Austin/tennis desk in advance (310) 454-6162.
  • Please wear tennis shoes and tennis attire.

 

Join the tennis fun this summer anytime between June 10-August 23.  Our annual Riviera Tennis Summer Camp is taught by the top notch RTC tennis coaches.

Classes available for Ages 3-17, All levels of Play and Non-Members Welcome.

Student’s learn and refine the basics in a fun, safe and healthy atmosphere at their own level.  Main Camp includes lunch.  Afternoon Competitive  Camps provide match play, strategy talks and conditioning drills to prep kids for tournaments and upcoming school tryouts.

Palisadian Jake Sands, an 8th grader at Paul Revere Charter Middle School, captured the Boys 14 Open singles tennis title at the 97th Annual Dudley Cup Junior Open Tournament held March 30 through April 7th in Santa Monica.  Jake, who turned 13 in March, defeated Gage Kingsmith of Calgary, AB (6-2,6-4) in the Round of 32, first seed Max Green of West Hollywood (2-6, 6-2,10-4) in the Round of 16, seventh seed Andre Saleh (7-6,6-1) in the Quarterfinals, fourth seed Nara Shin of Downey (6-2,7-5) in the Semifinals, and unseeded Jared Fong of Brentwood (6-2,7-6) in the finals.  In late February, Sands captured the USTA Nation Open Boys 12 Doubles title with Brandon Nakashima of San Diego and finished top 8 in singles in what was Sands’ last 12-and-under event.

Congrations to Riviera Junior Member Jake Sands, a 7th grader at Paul Revere Charter Middle School won the Boys 12 and Under division doubles title at the USTA National Open in Tucson, Arizona held November 23-25, 2012, along with partner Brandon Nakashima of San Diego. The duo defeated  Chou and Lindberg of Austin and Dallas, Texas 8-0 in the finals.  The team was dominant throughout the tournament, failing to lose more than two games in any 8-game pro-set match.  Sands also finished in third place in the singles tournament after defeating  Niroop Vallabhaneni of Scottsdale, Arizona in the first round (6-4,6-0), fifth seed Christopher Maltby of Glen Ellyn, Illinois in the second round (6-1,6-2), second seed Richler Jordaan of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado in the quarterfinals (7-5,6-4), and losing to Alexey Lunin of Chesapeake, Virginia (6-4,6-3) in the semifinals.

 

 

Congratulations to Riviera Junior Member Abby Schleichkorn for winning her 3rd Satellite tournament this year in the Girl’s 12 and under. This weekend it was the Hermosa Beach Jr Satellite & Jr Novice Tournament where she was the #1 seed. Abby did not drop a set in all three rounds of play! Great job Abby!
